ABOUT US At the heart of the Montagne de Reims A bit of history All-year round work in cellars Tourism

A BIT OF HISTORY

It all started in ECUEIL, 12 generations of winegrowers ago, with Nicaise LACOURTE (back in 1630).
We were then preparing non-sparkling red and white wines, initially for clergymen and later for merchants.

Soon after the war, in 1947, Henri LACOURTE took a leap of faith and jumped into the production of Champagne under the brand name LACOURTE-LABASSE. Then, in 1959, Yves LACOURTE (the son) got married with Jeanine GUILLEMART of the neighbouring village and they created the brand LACOURTE-GUILLEMART.

It's in 2000 that, with Christine, we took over the business. Conscious of what a wonderful heritage is in our hands, and of our mission to keep it alive, we strive to carry on a tradition of quality and continue to make and market our own Champagne.

From the horse to the high clearance tractor

At times we wonder how many of our winegrowing ancestors have used oxen and horses as draught animals. One can only marvel at the countless services rendered.

In modern times, the advent of mechanization led to the invention and manufacture of the tractor, and that was a turning point for winegrowers. As soon as tractors appeared on the market, agricultural development was boosted. Old chores became a faster pleasure ride.

These pictures illustrate evolutions of hauling and towing "equipments" at Champagne
LACOURTE GUILLEMART.
